Raccoon Education Materials
There is always a humane solution rather than a lethal one when you are experiencing a human-wildlife conflict. For raccoons nesting in your attic, you can use a radio, flood lamps, or ammonia soaked rags to make the raccoon family leave. After they leave, seal up the entrance to prevent future conflicts.
Raccoons stuck in dumpsters usually just need a ladder to get out. You can place a board or actual ladder into the dumpster at a 45 degree angle, and this will create a ramp for them to get out.
Unlike humans, most baby mammals are born with their eyes and ears closed, without fur, and without the ability to go to the bathroom on their own. Wildlife rehabilitators have ways to imitate natural history to help the babies to eliminate urine and feces; which is just one more reason why you should always take baby wildlife in need to a rehabilitator rather than trying to raise it on your own.
